ST. CAMILLUS MEDICAL CENTER: 33 YEARS AS AN INSTITUTION

BEGINNINGS IN ITALY

St. Camillus is the patron of the sick, hospitals, doctors, nurses and other healthcare providers. He was born in Bucchianico (Italy) in 1550. He was converted at the age of 25 and consecrated his life to the care of the sick and the reform of healthcare. In 1582, he founded the Order of the Servants of the Sick (Camillians) in order to continue his work. Since then, the Order has a long tradition of caring for the sick and the aged. In 1614, he died in Rome and was canonized by Pope Benedict XIV in 1746. In 1886, Pope Leo XIII proclaimed him the patron of the sick and of hospitals. In 1930, Pope Pius XI proclaimed him the patron saint of doctors and nurses. His followers carried the same mission of promoting health and caring for the sick wherever they serve.

CAMILLIANS IN THE PHILIPPINES

The Ministers of the Infirm is an organization which has a world- wide presence. Camillian healthcare institutions are found in 37 countries in five continents: North America, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. Worldwide, there are now 157 hospitals (56 in Brazil alone), 30 clinics, 32 homes for the elderly, 10 Nursing Colleges, 60 chaplaincies, 26 nutrition centers, 27 HIV/AIDS centers and 8 leprosaria. The slogan of the organization is "Serving the sick with heart in our hands".

In 1975, the Order of St. Camillus started missionary activities in the Philippines. It has established non- stock, non-profit hospitals, polyclinics, healthcare centers and nursing home. It has also organized community-based healthcare programs in the various parts of the Philippines. There are now three hospitals, one each in Luzon (St. Camillus Medical Center, Pasg City, Metro Manila), Visayas (St. Camillus Hospital, Calbayog City, Samar) and Mindanao (St. Camillus Hospital - Mati, Davao Oriental). There are also three polyclinics, three healthcare centers, six pastoral healthcare services, one HIV Center, one nursing home, four Formation Houses and two Parishes.

HeART OF HEALING - TeamSCMC

Our strength lies in being with the Camillians.....

therapists, medical technologists, administrative staff, drivers and utility workers who believe that they can help in so many ways. They can give. They can share. They can serve. We all can.

HeART OF HEALING - TeamSCMC "officially launched" its various programs --- medical - surgical - dental mission (sustained health care program), community activity program and feeding program --- as part of the month-long celebration of the Feast of St. Camillus de Lellis in July, 2018. November 10 - 16, 2019

A message from Fr. Jojo, MI, Provincial Superior

Fr. Gabby, CEO: Let the games begin!

The Cheering: "Serving!", "With Heart!", "In Our Hands!" (In another version of the hep-hep-hooray, each team is prompted by its team color with the hospital director as the cheer leader.)

Badminton showdown (Ryan and Arlene D. of the Last Ball Serving White Mighty Titans square off with Mennet and Rudy of the Blue Hand(s) Archers)

Men's Basketball: A battle of set plays (Each year, the players and the games get better.)

Fr. John Paul, MI, playing coach of the Blue Hand(s) Archers (jersey no. 21), designs a play while Paeng of the opposing team, Red Heart Dragon Boat Heroes (red jersey, standing), tries to eavesdrop.

The 3x3 Basketball for women (Waiting for the ball to drop -- and the exciting scramble for possession of the ball that follows.)

Dr. Cammayo (front row, 2nd from L) coaches the Red Heart Dragon Boat Heroes in the 3x3 basketball for women but his court-side instructions are drowned by the loud cheering of the Blue Hand(s) Archers.

A game that demonstrates how to recycle natural gas.

Table tennis (A tightly-contested game for the past 6 years.)

Mobile Legend as an exhibition game? (Just taking a breather actually.)

Dart ("D' art" of precision and accuracy.)

Soccer by proxy.

At the "chess" board room (Every move you make, I'll be watching you...)

The Calamansi Relay Game (Is the rising cost of egg taking its toll on this parlor game?)

Volleyball is played last which has now become a tradition. A fitting culmination of the Sportsfest.

Join us on April 14, 2018. Do not miss out on life!

2017 Christmas Fellowship: I.C.U. Nursing Staff WINS Funny One Contest

GETTING THE JUDGES' NOD: By her lonesome, "down-to-earth" barefoot as in "feel na feel", a ukulele to strum away her pain, an "ear-shaking", "note-defying" singing voice that complements a broken heart and the signature "girl-with-her-back-pressed-against-a-drapery-and-her-long-hair-cascading-down-as-she-slowly-falls-on-her-knees" finale.

"Funny One" from the O.R. - D.R. Nursing Staff

Funny WHEN. When things go wrong as they sometimes will and when the road you are trudging seems all uphill, don't give up until you hear the 5-minute buzzer of the timekeeper. Halt! "Hugot" (who goes) there?

Another "Funny One" from the I.C.U. Nursing Staff (Male Version)

Funny WANT. If you want it, you can have it. But when you finally have it, you will not want to have anything to do with it. Musical notes don't mean anything much unless you put words in them. "Hugot" (who got) a sad song to sing?

"Funny Ones" from the Administrative Division Staff

Funny ONCE - not twice, not thrice but they did add spice to life. You just have to read between the (punch) lines. Entertainers, definitely!

"Funny Ones" from the Dept. of Laboratory and Pathology

Funny ONES and the Science of Numero-Uno-logy (Numerology). Coming very close as First Runner-Up in a tight contest. ONE plus ONE equals TWO. And TWO is next to ONE. They are the best of both worlds.

THE SCMC DANCE TROUPE performing a ballet number

INTRODUCING THE SCMC HASH BROWNS

Doing an interview with the Hash Browns can only give you two sequelae, either you squirm while standing or you go down and curl up in laughter. Either way, Mark will maintain his poise to show that he is "serious" with his joke and worked hard for it, Mike will laugh (as a safety net) and Winston will flash a smile as an alternative to Mark's joke.
